This is my second time going to Snowshoe and my second time skiing! Last year, we got incredibly lucky with fresh snow both days. Since it was my first time, I didn't really grasp how insanely lucky that was. Ben taught me how to ski, and I didn't fall once! Can't say the same about this year haha.

As these trips always start, I had to book Millie a little staycation. I have her stay at Happy Cat Hotel and add on the camera, the pheromones, and additional enrichment time. I love booking here for the stay because, although it's expensive, it's so worth it. Everyone knows her by the end of her trip, I can tell them all about her likes & dislikes and they listen, and I can check on her throughout the day when I'm missing her extra. They also send an update via email once a day with pictures, which is probably my favorite part. 10/10 place, would recommend.

The drop off is tricky, but it gets a little easier every time. Mostly for me and Ben, maybe not as much for Millie. They are SUCH nice people though and she does end up coming out of her shell for them eventually.

Then we hit the road! I take a half day on our travel day and we are normally the last ones there so there tends to be some catching up to do. Lots of games are played, mostly card games or 'go around the circle' type games. Some entail writing, a pair of dye, or specific songs, but all are a good time. Most pics are taken in the cabin. I'm still scared of ski lifts (whatever) so I normally don't take my phone out while I'm up there.

We also have a tradition of a T Shirt swap! All the names are randomly generated which is a really fun way to switch things up. I've gotten cat shirts twice now which have been hilarious. When we're back at the house for the night, we'll put them on and the last day we all wear them on the slopes. Not sure how I got away with wearing a sweater twice, but I'll take it.

The first day was our best day this year. Weather was predicted to be warm and rainy which is pretty much worst case scenario. The first day we got there, it was pretty warm but no rain! I did take my first fall which was totally harmless and only a handful of people saw it. At this point, we were still separated into groups of people who knew how to ski and people who didn't. We would meet up for lunch and then go out all together after.

The second day, the people who were good at skiing got up earlier to go down the blacks on the other side of the mountain. Ben felt sick after so he stayed behind :(. Out of the two days, it was the better day to miss. The weather was fine in the morning, a bit chillier than the day before but nothing egregious.

During lunch it started to rain which was the moment we all had hoped wouldn't happen. It had mostly cleared up by the time we got back out on the slopes but there was a consistent drizzle for the rest of the day. I took my first actual fall this day as well, face-planting down the side of a blue. Nikki helped me back up but because she snowboards, it took the two of us at least a whole 5 minutes to get my boots back in the skis. People had started to wonder where we were!

everyone at snowshoe!

Here's (almost) everyone at the end of the second day, with t shirts totally soaked. As you can tell, weather was not the most ideal.

It was still such a fun trip! With amazing pasta salad and even better company.
