These were the first bouquet that I made from buying my own flowers! We had a little dinner party to celebrate our first year at this house and wanted to go all out.

flowers in my car

I get my flowers from Trader Joe's since it's inexpensive and close by. It's also fun because I'm never sure what they'll have, so it's something I get to think about while I'm there. Sometimes it feels a little silly to stand there and think about it, but it's a fun new challenge.

Because I wanted to make a couple of bouquets of all different sizes, I got a good amount of flowers. I decided on the following:

  • two light blue lacecap hydrangeas

  • two white spray stock

  • two white veronica

  • two eucalyptus

I started by putting a hydrangea stem in each of the glasses we had. Most of them were jars that we saved for this night. For the vase we do have, I put two stems in since it was larger. For smaller ones, I skipped the hydrangeas altogether.

From there, I tried to separate the stock flowers by how large each jar was. Ones without the hydrangea got more, so they still look filled. I tried to have the stock flowers almost fill the holes of the hydrangeas since they got a little squished in the car ride home.

leaves from the hydrangeas are great greenery already, but too many made it look less polished, and some weren't very healthy. I put between 2-3 veronica in each glass as well for texture. I tried to balance them with the stock flowers as well, to continue with white throughout the bouquet

After placing everything together, I added eucalyptus in some additional green with the eucalyptus leaves. I loved having them hang so each bouquet would take up some extra space. They also really nicely resemble the roundness of the other flowers.
